What personal information we collect

As a MateSel customer or prospective customer, we collect the following types of information to allow us to deliver our services:

  • Organisation name and location details
  • Full name, email, and phone number for each user at your organisation requiring MateSel access
  • Accounting information for invoices and payments
  • Service requirements
  • Authentication details such as login time, client details (web browser or workstation), IP Address, time zone, and language. Cookie data are required for authentication purposes.

  • Usage information to verify license permitted conditions are met
  • We do not collect any sensitive input data such as animal/plant identifiers, EBVs, Traits, or Markers
  • We do not collect any sensitive personal data e.g. ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, biometric data, health data.


How we use the personal information we collect

Below are the specific purposes for which we use the information we collect:

  • To provide MateSel services. This includes authentication when you log in, customer support, and tasks required to operate, maintain, and improve the services.
  • For research and development. We are always looking for ways to improve the product and services. We collect feedback to help develop new features and to improve our services.
  • To communicate with you about MateSel services. We use your contact information to communicate via email and phone about our services.
  • Customer support. We use your information to resolve technical issues, to respond to your requests for assistance, and to repair and improve the services.


How we store and secure the personal information we collect

All personal information we collect is stored and transmitted securely. Below are the key measures in place:

  • Enryption at rest for all stored data (AES-256)
  • Enryption in transit for all web services (TLS1.2+)
  • Multi-factor authentication and strong password policies enforced for all systems
  • We do not share any data with third parties without consent

While we implement safeguards designed to protect your information, no security system is impenetrable and due to the nature of the Internet, we cannot guarantee that information, during transmission through the Internet or while stored on our systems or otherwise in our care, is absolutely safe from intrusion by others.



European Economic Area (EEA) Users

If you are an individual in the European Economic Area (EEA), we collect and process information about you only where we have legal bases for doing so under applicable EU laws. The legal bases are limited to collecting and using your information where:

  • We need it to provide you the services e.g. operating the MateSel and providing customer support
